This game is the best adult visual novel since Summertime Saga, arguably better because the developers actually produce consistent updates. Worth buying.

Asami has two different routes, did you try them both? Anyway, if it's what I'm thinking - when she's in your room, you should "take the lead". Otherwise it's probably a bug.
I have done everything to try and update the game and have asked here to no avail.. how do I update to the latest version which I have paid for.. I think its pretty bad that its not exactly easy to find how to install the update at all...

All the previous saves are deleted in 0.9 I believe.

If you bought the game, you just need to download the latest update - and then just install like new.
It was mentioned that you can't take over the progress from 0.8 to 0.9 due to the engine switch.
